This one-page report provides a summary of the Special Sex Offender Disposition Alternative (SSODA) - a sentencing alternative to incarceration for juveniles adjudicated for a sex offense. Established in 1990 under the Community Protection Act, SSODA offers eligible juveniles an alternative to incarceration by focusing on community-based treatment, rehabilitation, and supervision.

This report serves as a supplemental report to the Sentencing Guidelines Commission (SGC)’s December 2023 Re-ranking report. The supplemental report provides additional information related to the SGC’s processes for completing the project, a racial and ethnic impact analysis of the proposed recommendation, as well as a review of additional policy considerations that were raised but were not fully considered by the SGC as it worked to complete the project. The additional policy considerations include topics that are relevant for policy makers even under the current sentencing guideline grid.
